Help needed with rear wheel bearings
Hello from Finland!!
I have '92 Frontera 2,4i with Dana 44 rear axle (I think) and I have great difficulties to find a new Rear Wheel Bearing. Here in Finland only local Opel-Dealer sells those bearings, and it costs 370 Euros!! Does anybody know if there is same bearings in some other wehicles OR is there any webshops where I can order wheel bearings, from Germany for example.

Moi Timo
did you try ebay? For example here in Germany -> ebay.de
I don't know what your skills are in the german language
but if you're familiar with the search function just enter
" Radlager Frontera A HA hinten"
Then you'll find some offers in a range from 60 € - 160 €
Here's one I found ->
Click me!
But it's just for one wheel!!!
If you need both sides you need to order 2
Is this what you're looking for?
Hope this will help you!?
Best wishes!

AW: Help needed with rear wheel bearings
Hallo Dirk!
Thank you very much for your quick answer! I knew that here would be helpful people. I found that bearing set too, and also something else. Do you know what difference is in these two bearing sets:
link 1
and
link 2
Both bearings in those links will fit to Frontera 2,2i/2,5TD/2,8TDS 95-98, But only the more expensive bearing set will fit to '92 2,4i? is this true, or is it just a mistake that human would make? so I mean that is there any reason why I can't buy the cheaper one?
Then I also found Renet KFZ-ersatzteile webshop. There is also rear wheel bearing for frontera 136€. And then there is autoteile.cc This shop also offers rear wheel bearing for frontera only '95 and newer wehicles (not 2,3td and 2,4 i 92-94). Is there something that I don't understand? because the bearing for the newer Frontera is again cheaper. Is there for example different axle oil seals or something else?
Anyway, I'm very pleased to have some help from you, and you have awesome forum here, it have helped me before an it will in future, evenif my german ain't that good...yet!

Hi Timo,
Thanks for your kind words
Always nice to hear/read.
In my opinion there is no difference between those two links exept for the price and the
more expensive one seems to have more stuff.
The fist one just offers the bearing.
As far as I know all Models from '92- early '95 do have the same rear axle
with DANA 44 and Spring leafs. There's only a slight difference in the ratio
within the DANA 44 but that doesen't affect the diameter of the axle itself.
So there should not be any difference and both links should do.
But to be sure just try to contact one of those shops by email.
I think they will understand and help you.
Cheers!

BTW your car looks awesome! What rims and tires do you use?
They look pretty big.
Did you modify your car? If so what did you do?
Just curious

Re: AW: Help needed with rear wheel bearings
Cool! Thanks a LOT, problem solved I think.
Rear leaf spring looks to me pretty strong, maybe the previous owner have changed them. (I bought the car year ago. Nice car in the winter in our snowy conditions.) I also had to adjust front torsion bars to get the front end to the same level where the back of the car was.
I've been thinking to do some bodylifting, but so much to do, so less time.
Timo
Jeah. Rims are 7x15, Made in the U.S, I presume. They came to me with 31"x11,5" tires. And yes, looks good. But I'd like to go to 32" tires. 32" because they are biggest tires that are allowed to use in frontera here in finland, thanks to our laws.-dirk- hat geschrieben:

I also use a 2.4i for the winter. But our winter is like your summer
But I also want to do so much on the 2 cars but as you wrote:

I also thought 'bout a body lift but without additional work only 1" is possible.
If you want to go higher you need to make the gear shifter an the steering stuff longer.
Also all the tubes (engine/breaks) must be lengthen but that would be the smallest prob
I guess
Did you need to cut off the wheel house for those tires?
If you've got close-ups from the tires I really would appreciate seeing them
Cheers!

Re: AW: Help needed with rear wheel bearings
No. I did nothing. There is no left any free space for front tires, and bigger tires won't fit without modifications.-dirk- hat geschrieben:

I only have that avatar pic in bigger scale, and other similar pics.
link
I can take some pics if you want, but that may take a little while. (I need to get the car out of the garage first.)

Thanks for the pic! I just saw what I wanted to see.
Really cool combo! Rims and tires looking pretty cool.
I totaly into black rims. Makes the car look more like
a "badass"
I wonder if I could get such big tires without any problems.
